Tin Pan Alley was the direct result of the Reconstruction period following the end of the American Civil War. It is estimated that between the end of the war in 1865 and the year 1887, more than half a million new pianos were installed in parlors and homes across America. With the huge number of burgeoning musicians came the need for sheet music, and this instigated the development of an all new publishing industry, and a new musical form. With this opportunity for massive profits in sheet music sales came a strange combination of gifted composers and corporate investment. Musicians were hired by publishing houses, and gave up all rights to their works. Market research dictated the â€Å"themes†for the compositions they were to write, and soon the music of Tin Pan Alley was more industry than art. The vaudeville era was just beginning at the dawn of Tin Pan Alley as well, and this only helped to spread the tunes and songs being written in the city. Within twenty years publishers could easily sell the sheet music for a single song in the millions of copies! The lyrics to the most popular of the songs imply that the United States was happy and prosperous†¦but was it? With all the market research and clinical work done during the composition process is it accurate to say that the 1890s were as carefree as the songs indicate? We know that this was the period of time when the American â€Å"frontier†was officially declared as â€Å"closed†; when it was understood that there was no longer any unexplored areas of the country. We know too that child labor laws, particularly in the cities, had yet to put an end to abuse and poverty. The â€Å"gay 90s†, it seems, appear to exist only in the songs. Today, we understand that the widespread need for sheet music triggered a booming industry that aimed to sell people what they wanted a happier view of the United States. We know that this was partially inspired by the need to escape the devastation and conflict that remained from the Civil War era, and we know that this helped to shift the country into a new mindset. It also created a huge impact on business and the law because it initiated several copyright bills and created the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP) to protect those writing the music. Clearly this indicates that there were positive and negative effects from the cultural phenomenon of Tin Pan Alley and the musical form that it created. It handles departments like power, oil and gas both upstream and downstream, utilities such as water p rojects, etc, transportation like mass transit, aviation, commercial real estate business projects which are the business proposals that are conceived for commercial gain, infrastructure that would also include concessions in public assets. 3. Credit Risk Management (CRM) which is concerned with the planning, monitoring and the reporting of the credit portfolios (Principles for the Management of Credit Risk, 2012) 4. Remedial Management Unit (RMU) that would have a bias for the proactive work-out of accounts that would show early signs of weaknesses and 5. Transformation of Rev. Arthur Dimmesdale in Hawthornes The Scarlet Let
The Scarlet Letter: The Transformation of Rev. Dimmesdale "Life is hard, but accepting that fact makes it easier." This common phrase clearly states a harsh fact that Rev. Dimmesdale, a character in Nathaniel Hawthorne's The Scarlet Letter, had to face. In this story of deception and adultery set in the Puritan era, Hawthorne introduces Dimmesdale as a weak and cowardly man who refuses to take responsibility for his actions. The Rev. Dimmesdale is a transitional character in that he is, at the beginning of the novel, outwardly good but inwardly deceitful and by the end of the novel he becomes both outwardly and inwardly truthful.               At the beginning of the novel, Dimmesdale has established quite a reputation for himself. In discussing individual members of the magistrate, the towns people describe Dimmesdale as a "God fearing" gentleman, "but merciful overmuch (49)". Due to his actions all of the people respect and look up to the Reverend. Throughout the story, Dimmesdale desperately tries to confess, envying Hester, for her courage, he says, "Happy are you Hester, that wear the scarlet letter openly upon your bosom†(188)! Even at the end of the novel, when finally attempting to confess, people are compelled by his final sermon, raving that "never had a man spoken in so wise, so high, and so holy a spirit, as he that spake this day†(243).  Proving that he was a very loved and influential man in the small town.               In further developing Dimmesdale's character, Hawthorne portrays him as a hypocrite. His outward demeanor deceives the villagers, appearing as a completely holy man. However, before the action of the novel begins, he stumbles into sin, by committing adultery with Hester Pryn... ...and a character other than Dimmesdale could not have painted such a vivid, and memorable picture in one's mind.  1.                        Great thesis statement !!! 2.                        Your conclusion paragraph should be more detailed. People may be surprised to know that makeup has its own past. In fact there is a long history of makeup that has led it to the point where it is today. Pharaohs and great queens of Egypt wore, makeup thousands of years ago and while it wasn't composed of the same materials, they still used it in similar ways as people do today. Women and men have been wearing cosmetics for over centuries and still are now in days. The styles have certainly undergone some dramatic changes over time but makeup is still being used the same way. Women wore it to attacked man, and men wore it to let the women know that they were clean men and liked to be attractive, most of the children wore it to be creative and fun. By the 1sy Dynasty of Egypt decided that decorating persons eyes, heeks and lips was consider a statement of royalty. We don’t use it the same and don’t look at it the same because back then they were queens and kings and today we don’t have any queens and kings to show royalty to because of their beauty. Lipstick in Egypt Lipstick was also applied with a small stick just like the eyeliner. The ancient Egyptian women squeezed out purple red color from iodine and bromine, leading to serious diseases. With time, it came to be known as â€Å"the kiss of death†. Most of the women and also men died because of this lipstick the women died because they were wearing it and it went through their skin, the men died from it because they got kissed by the ladies who had it. It is said that Cleopatra’s lipstick were made from carmine beetles, which gave a strong red color pigment. This was mixed with and eggs, which provided the base. This lipstick is still used like it was used in Ancient Egypt it has the same base and shine to it. Eye Shadow in Egypt The Egyptians used eye shadow in their burials and back in 10,000 BC. However, the common fact in this culture is that eye shadow is generally used on females and very rarely on males. The western worlds consider eye shadows as a female makeup. For the fact that its more girly then manly and men don’t believe in wearing makeup because it would make them feel feminine and in Egypt men like wearing makeup because it would make them look clean and attractive to women. Makeup has been with us for centuries and is and can be used in many different ways with men and women, men use it for movies or any other type of action, and women use it to beautify themselves and attract males with the beautiful colors. Lip liner, lipstick, eyeliner, eye shadow, and mascara create gorgeous designs on your face that’s what they are made for, to create a different person and to make you feel better about your self. It’s incredible what makeup can do, and how it was made before with animals, insects, and oil, the techniques that Egyptians used with the tools and the different Egyptian design they did on the lady’s face. I never imagined that makeup was used even before I was born. And now the different techniques that were used before are used now and are being passed on because of the queen Cleopatra. You will never see a woman walk out of their house with out being beautified, Cleopatra never walked out with out her makeup on why should you?
